This Privacy Policy describes how Verta ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Verta mobile and web application (the "App"). By using Verta, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide Directly

• Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address.
• Receipt data: Photos of receipts you upload or capture using your device camera, along with itemized line items, merchants, amounts, dates, and any edits you make.
• Social connections: Friends you add, contacts you connect, and any blocking actions you take within the App.

b. Information Collected Automatically

• Log data: Our servers automatically record standard log information when you use the App, including your IP address, browser or device type, operating system, and the dates and times of your requests. This data is used solely for security, debugging, and operating the App.
• Camera access: The App requests access to your device camera only when you choose to photograph a receipt. We do not access your camera at any other time.

c. Payment Information

When you initiate or split a payment through Venmo, you are redirected to or interact with Venmo's service. We do not collect, store, or process your payment credentials, bank account details, or card numbers. All payment transactions are handled by Venmo (a PayPal service) and are subject to Venmo's Privacy Policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and maintain your account
• Enable you to capture, store, and organize receipts
• Allow you to share receipts and split costs with friends
• Facilitate social features such as friend connections and contact syncing
• Communicate with you about your account or the App (transactional messages only)
• Ensure the security and integrity of the App
• Comply with our legal obligations

We do not use your information for targeted advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• With other users, at your direction: Receipt data is shared with other Verta users only when you explicitly assign or share a receipt with them.
• Third-party payment services: When you use Venmo to split or settle costs, your transaction is processed by Venmo. We share only what is necessary to initiate that transaction.
• Service providers: We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host and operate the App. AWS processes data on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Verta, our users, or others.
• Business transfers: If Verta is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change via email or prominent notice in the App.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and receipt data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

Receipts that you delete within the App are soft-deleted and are permanently purged within 30 days.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your data
• Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 10 or use the in-app contact form. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

Verta is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. 8. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, and access controls limiting who can access user data. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

The App integrates with Venmo for payment functionality. Venmo's services are governed by Venmo's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
